Virunga Mountain Spirits creates exceptional handcrafted beverages that express the spirit of Rwanda — with an emphasis on creating opportunities to advance women. From the farmer cooperatives of Musanze to the local artisans in our gift shop, everything we do is Made in Rwanda for the World.
The idea was born in 2012, when our founder stood in the potato fields of Rwanda's Northern Province. Fifteen years of work in Russia and the former Soviet Union, a decade of women's economic development work in Rwanda, and one glance at the volcanic-soil potato harvest came together in a single idea: potatoes, women's empowerment, and vodka.
